Filmmakers , get your shit together

For the love of GOD, please stop saying “Pakistan keh standard seh, yeh movie achi thee.” Loosely translated, this means that considering the shit work we already do, this is okay, therefore let’s set our standards really low. Meaning, we’re comparing ourselves with the worst of the worst!

Either a movie is good, or it’s bad. Dekh Magar Pyaar Seh was a stupid looking movie; it got bad reviews; it looked terrible in the trailer. That’s why many of us didn’t watch it. Don’t say, “hey we’re new/we were trying our hand at something artistic.” Refer to Asad-ul-Haq and how he justifies his work.

I’m irked by the way people are saying “Jawani Phir Nai Aani wasn’t bad. It made us laugh.” So basically, this years biggest hit is a sad copy of one of the worst movies in Bollywood.

This is inspiration behind great Pakistani work
These are the kind of movies that are the inspiration behind the hugely successful film JPNA

Also, directors/actors/filmmakers who say to journalists and critics “Cut us some slack, we’re new to this and are learning,” why are you learning from stuff that is universally declared as crap? Why aren’t you learning from the bigger names in Hollywood? It’s like when our mom used to tell us growing up, aim for an A+ because if you aim to ‘just pass’, you will probably barely pass or not even that. But if you aim for A+, even your low will be a B.

Point being, please stop bullshitting us.
